Temporary Teaching Permits
General Information
A request for issuance of a Temporary Teaching Permit (TTP) can only be initiated by the employer.
A TTP may be used in emergent situations where attempts to recruit a certified teacher to fill a teaching position have not been successful. To ensure that schools and classrooms can operate, the employer may request a TTP for someone who is not a certified teacher but has been determined by them to be the best suited person to fill the position, as either a substitute teacher or on a temporary contract basis.
TTP's are valid only for the school year in which they are issued and for the specific position or subject(s). Vacant positions for the next school year must be advertised to try and recruit a certified teacher. TTP's for the next school year will not be processed until July 15th at the earliest to ensure that recruitment efforts have been demonstrated by the employer.
TTP applications for Saskatchewan post-secondary B.Ed. students to fill substitute teaching positions in the current school year will only be accepted until April 30th annually.
