I.  Applicants who  hold Certification in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland, Northwest Territories, Nova Scotia, Nunavut, Prince Edward Island, and/or Yukon:

    1.  Online application and fee ($210.00 non-refundable).
     
  2. Gender identification selected from one of the following options: Male, Female, X (Unspecified, i.e. includes but not limited to Trans, Non-Binary, Two-Spirited, etc.), Choose not to disclose (i.e. You may identify with any of the gender options provided but do not want to disclose)1
     
  3. Government Issued ID: Birth Certificate; Passport (Valid/Current, with full legal name); or Certificate of Indian Status.
     
  4. Marriage Certificate / Change of Name Certificate / Divorce Certificate (if your name has changed since birth).
     
  5. Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search (must be for employment purposes and valid within three months of application submission).
     
  6. Statement of Professional Standing from every jurisdiction where you have been issued a teacher's certificate. You must be certified in the jurisdiction where you completed your teacher education program before applying to the SPTRB.
     


 
 PLEASE NOTE:  
       ♦   Applications will be assessed once ALL required documents are received. A general timeline for processing applications is 10 - 15 business days. Exact processing times will depend on the complexity of the application.   
   ♦   If you attended post-secondary school outside of North America, you are required to have an International Credential Advantage Package (ICAP) conducted by World Education Services (WES) and arrange for the results to be forwarded directly to the SPTRB. Arrange to have all your transcripts sent to WES. WES provides English translations of all transcripts.
 
   ♦ If any of your documents (with the exception of transcripts) are not in English or French, you must provide the STPRB with an English translation. Translations must be from one of the following sources:   
      An associate or certified member(s) of the Association of Translators and Interpreters of Saskatchewan http://atisask.ca/;  
      A document translation service pre-approved by the Saskatchewan Professional Teachers Regulatory Board;  
      The consulate, high commission, or embassy (in Canada) of the country that issued the documents; or  
      A Canadian embassy, consulate, or high commission in the country from which you emigrated.  
 

II.  Applicants from Ontario and Quebec:

    1.  Online application and fee ($210.00 non-refundable).

  4. Marriage Certificate / Change of Name Certificate / Divorce Certificate (if your name has changed since birth).

  8.  Ontario Only: Transcripts for Additional Qualifications (taken at a recognized university and accepted by the OCT) sent directly to the SPTRB by issuing institution.
     
  9.   Quebec Only: Copy of teacher's certificate issued by province.

    If you are ineligible for a teacher's certificate in the jurisdiction where you completed your teacher education program due to citizen requirements, please have your university complete and send the following form to the SPTRB: Eligibility to Hold a Teacher Certificate.

Review and Appeal Process

If you disagree with our assessment, you may request an appeal of our evaluation decision within 40 days of the decision.  Appeals must identify the section of the Regulatory Bylaw that you believe has been incorrectly applied to your application and include the reason(s) for your belief.  Appeals may be emailed to:
