Determining if you should consider applying for a Temporary Teaching Permit while attending post-secondary:

Not Eligible for a Temporary Teaching Permit under the Post-Secondary Student Policy


Apply to the SPTRB for your Professional A Certificate after October 1st.

Eligible to apply for a Temporary Teaching Permit if an employment offer to be a substitute has been made by an employer.

A passing final grade must be approved by the post-secondary institution for your practicum and appear on your transcript to be considered completed.

Returning to classes in January:

Review the requirements for Pre-B.Ed. Assessment found on the Guide for Completing the Certification Application > Saskatchewan Teacher Education Program for further information.

If you believe you meet the requirements, apply for the Pre-B.Ed. Assessment under the Certification Application.

If you do not meet the requirements, you are eligible to apply for a Temporary Teaching Permit under the Post-Secondary Student Policy.

Degree Completed following practicum:

You are not eligible for a Temporary Teaching Permit under the Post-Secondary Student Policy.

An employer must request an exemption from the SPTRB Registrar before proceeding.

If your employer directs you to apply for a Temporary Teaching Permit, they should have confirmed the exemption was granted.

Your eligibility to hold a Temporary Teaching Permit will be based on meeting the requirements of Schedule D.

You will be required to provide a copy of your post-secondary timetable to your employer and the SPTRB.
